I wrote this piece 3 years ago, in 2020, during the beginning of the COVID19 pandemic.
As I reread this entry, and reflect on the past 3 years, I realize that one can replace “COVID19” with “cancer”, “immunologic illness” “depression”, or any new life altering chronic disease/diagnosis/major disruption/transition in one’s life.
The one constant in life is change.
We get to choose whether we accept, embrace, and move forward, or fight, fret, and allow ourselves to be consumed with worry, anxiety, fear of the unknown, and that which we cannot change.
Feelings are valid, needed, and important. Feel, cry, yell, despair, become angry, full of sorrow, mourn, feel all the feels, then move on.
Stop beating yourself up over what cannot be changed.
Accepting what is is the first step.
Believing you have a choice and deciding what comes next is yours and yours alone.
Choose wisely, purposefully, and live without regret.
Choose for you, for it’s your life first and foremost. You GET to decide how you live.
I choose positivity, love, light, hope, laughter, kindness, and aim to see and behold the beauty surrounding us: flowers blooming, sunshine kissing cheeks, clouds in the sky, listening to the wind in the trees, the waves crashing, the birds singing, children laughing, the smell of coffee, hot stew, fresh baked bread/cookies, a newborn’s scent/snuggle, a loved one’s squeeze, the soft fur of a pup’s ears.
Being present, in the moment, is the ultimate gift.
The precious present.
Relish it. Enjoy the moment.
Accept what is and choose how you react. For you and only you are in control of your thoughts. Your thoughts create your feelings, which lead to actions taken, and results gained.
So decide. Use what you information and resources you have at the time, make a choice and move forward. Staying in indecision is also a choice. One that most often results in anxiety, fear, wondering, what ifs and should haves.
The only way to truly fail is to never even try.
Believe in yourself.
Move forward and do.
Live the life YOU want and deserve.
I choose beauty, hope, and to believe in what’s possible, now, forever, and always.
I choose to embrace change, accept what is, and live fully, one moment at a time. ❣️
